Born
in Dublin, Ireland, Joan came to Toronto when she was five. By age eleven
she began drawing animals. In 1974 she studied Environmental Design in OCAD.
In 1979 graduated from Humber College in Interior Design. She has been involved
in art for more than 30 years. She donated to the Toronto Zoo, a sculpture
relief of "Angie" their Artic Wolf. This piece is displayed in
their Administration Offices. In 2007 she entered and was accepted into
the prestigious juried 34th Annual Show of Fine Arts at the Peel Heritage
C omplex in Brampton, Ontario.
Joan paints with acrylic and uses a technique which results in an oil painting
look. The subject matter of her paintings varies from portraits to nature
scenes. She loves painting places that reflect solitude and wildness, getting
her inspiration from her travels to Australia, Ireland and Bosnia. Joan
currently lives on a country property in the Rockwood, Ontario area, surrounded
by the nature she loves and manifests in her paintings. |
